DENTAL PROSTHETIC TECHNICAL FACILITY ESTABLISHMENT SERVICES
Dental prosthetics is a branch of Dentistry and Maxillofacial specialty involving the replacement of missing teeth through the use of dentures or other artificial dental restoration methods. It also includes the reconstruction of other oral defects, such as missing parts of teeth and abnormalities relating to the jawbone and dental bone structures.
A dental prosthetic technical facility was formerly known as a denture fabrication service establishment. In this article, we will provide consultation and guidance on the latest legal regulations governing this type of establishment.
Requirements on Facilities and Premises
The establishment must have a fixed location that complies with legal regulations on structural safety, fire prevention and firefighting, infection control, environmental protection, and radiation safety (if applicable); and must ensure adequate electricity and water supply for the operation of the medical examination and treatment facility.
The establishment must have a signboard, as well as maps and directional signs leading to departments, rooms, and professional or administrative divisions.
Requirements on Medical Equipment
The establishment must be equipped with medical devices appropriate to the registered professional technical services and scope of operation.
Requirements on Personnel
The person in charge of professional and technical matters must be a licensed practitioner holding the title of medical technician with a scope of practice in dental prosthetics and possessing at least a bachelor’s degree.
The person in charge of professional and technical matters must work on a full-time basis at the establishment and must have a scope of practice suitable to the professional scope of operation of the establishment, with at least 36 months of practical experience within such scope.
In addition to the person in charge of professional and technical matters, any other individuals working at the establishment who engage in medical examination and treatment activities must possess practicing certificates and may only perform medical examination and treatment activities within the scope of their assigned duties. Based on the professional scope of operation, diplomas, certificates, training qualifications, and competence of practitioners, the person in charge of professional and technical matters shall assign practitioners to perform professional techniques in writing.
Requirements Applicable to the Company
In order for a company to satisfy the conditions for establishing a dental prosthetic technical facility, the following requirements must be met:
- Regarding the company’s registered business lines: it is necessary to review whether the company has registered the business line relating to medical examination and treatment establishments, specifically dental prosthetic technical facilities. If not, procedures for supplementation of business lines must be carried out.
- Regarding the location of the dental prosthetic technical facility: if the address of the dental prosthetic technical facility differs from the company’s head office address, procedures for establishing a business location affiliated with the company at such address must be completed.
